Ganiga raised €1.5 million in equity led by contract-catering business Vivenda, with London-based NextSTEP and three angels participating. Combined with €1 million secured through the Invitalia-managed Smart&Start Italia programme, the company described total financing of €2.5 million. Founded in the province of Pisa by Nicolas Zeoli, Ganiga combines AI, computer vision and robotics for waste management. It reported selling more than 300 waste-sorting devices for airports, shopping centres and large businesses in Italy and overseas. Its newer HooolyFood system uses cameras above waste containers to identify discarded food without weighing it. The resulting information helps catering operators adjust purchasing, menus and costs. The company said deployments already covered operations serving more than 30,000 meals daily. Financing will expand technical and commercial teams, develop HooolyFood and the shared data platform, and increase recurring revenue. Initial commercial expansion will focus on contract catering with Vivenda before addressing hotels, event catering and other foodservice environments. The equity round and incentive funding are distinct components.
