Go Eve secured £750,000 from Innovate UK and private investors for further development of its DockChain electric-vehicle charging technology. The company is a joint spinout from University College Dublin and Imperial College London, supported by NovaUCD. DockChain allows one compatible DC fast charger to serve several parking bays sequentially while vehicles remain plugged in. The approach aims to reduce charger numbers and associated electrical infrastructure rather than installing a separate fast charger at every bay. Funding supports an 18-month project developing hardware, firmware and software that can start, stop and restart charging without unplugging vehicles. Fleet deployments have highlighted differences in how EV models respond to interrupted charging sessions. The project will also investigate bidirectional charging and vehicle-to-grid services. Go Eve’s Wolverhampton engineering team will lead the work under Innovate UK’s Growth Catalyst Investor Partnerships programme. The company targets a production-ready version in 2027, with upgrades for existing units, and is seeking fleet operators for trials.
