Photon Bridge raised €10 million to develop laser technology for large AI-computing systems. Amadeus APEX Technology Fund and 360 Capital co-led the round, while existing investors Innovation Industries, Faber and Brabant Development Agency increased their backing. The Eindhoven company addresses the growing requirement for optical links between AI processors. Rather than relying on a small number of increasingly powerful lasers, its architecture combines light from multiple lower-power semiconductor lasers. The company argues that lower power density makes individual devices less vulnerable to manufacturing defects, improving yields as production volumes increase. Its platform targets multiple wavelengths and optical output of up to 40 milliwatts per wavelength per fibre, with manufacturing across several indium-phosphide foundries. Chief executive Paul Marchal linked the investment to the need to connect much larger processor clusters efficiently. The announcement described first samples as expected in 2027 and volume manufacturing as planned for 2028; those milestones were future targets, not completed production achievements.
