KiKi Layne and Luke Hemsworth joined Amazon MGM Studios’ action film Deadlocked, Deadline reported. Their character details were being withheld, but the pair were joining previously announced stars Jamie Foxx and Sasha Calle. Nikhil Bhat was directing the project, which Deadline described as being made for streaming. Its premise follows a grieving former Marine who is serving on a jury when a major trial becomes a hostage crisis. The defendant’s daughter takes over the courthouse in an attempt to free her father, forcing the former serviceman back into action. Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack wrote the screenplay from their original idea. Producers included Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan and Foxx, with Corinne Foxx among the executive producers. Deadline also placed the announcement within the actors’ wider schedules: Layne was attached to the Boys prequel Vought Rising, while Hemsworth had recently appeared in the Terminal List prequel Dark Wolf and was associated with the forthcoming True Believer season.
